Selected project 02 / Hospitality
A complete independent website project for a real dining inn in the Ceiriog Valley. I turned an earlier restaurant-focused visual direction into a four-page experience where food, booking and visit details lead the way.

The Hand already has a strong real-world identity and owner-published food photography. In the earlier design study, the mobile path from the homepage to the dining information and sample menu took more effort than it should. The completed project gives that journey a dedicated front door and makes booking visible without replacing the restaurant’s existing service.
All venue facts and photography used here were checked against the restaurant’s public website. The design avoids invented dishes, availability and prices.

The colour and serif-led typography carry forward the earlier restaurant concept, now supported by a complete visual system. The four pages share typed venue data, navigation and a reusable Astro layout, while the food and visit pages have their own information hierarchy.

Layouts reshape for narrow screens; the mobile navigation is keyboard-operable and closes with Escape.
Reservation actions take guests to The Hand’s own page. No imitation form or unnecessary personal-data collection.
Owner-published photos are converted to lightweight WebP files and non-critical images load lazily.
03 / A complete small-screen journey
On a phone, the site keeps the primary dining action in the first screen. The food page separates the sample dining, Sunday, breakfast and wine PDFs, with a clear route to official reservations.

This is a working four-page independent Wade Wu project built from an earlier visual design for the same real restaurant. It demonstrates research, art direction, reusable front-end structure and a complete guest journey. It is not represented as The Hand’s official website or as a paid commission; the restaurant’s current information and reservations remain on its own site.
